Giovanna Borradori is an IUC Faculty Member and a Professor of Philosophy at Vassar College (New York State).
Giovanna Borradori holds advanced degrees from the Universities of Milan and Paris and specializes in Continental philosophy, aesthetics, and the philosophy of terrorism. A crucial focus of her work is to foster new avenues of communication between rival philosophical lineages, including the analytical and Continental traditions, liberalism and communitarianism, as well as deconstruction and critical theory. To invigorate this exchange, she pioneered the scholarly interview as a new philosophical genre. Giovanna Borradori is the editor of Recoding Metaphysics: The New Italian Philosophy (Northwestern University Press, 1988) and the author of two books: The American Philosopher (University of Chicago Press 1993) and Philosophy in a Time of Terror. Dialogues with Jürgen Habermas and Jacques Derrida (University of Chicago Press, 2003), a "philosophy best-seller" translated in ten languages.
