News Detail Lanzhou University : Yacouba Mounkoro's experience
Nihao My name is Yacouba When I left Mali to continue my study in Italy, my main interest has always been to get the chance to visit the People’s Republic of China. My school the International University College of Turin (Italy) gave me this chance through its exchange program with Lanzhou University. I had a lot of choices because my university has more than 20 partnerships with universities all around the world but I have chosen Lanzhou University. When my classmates asked me why I made this choice, at first I really did not know a specific reason, I just wanted to come to China to live one of the greatest experiences of my life. When I arrived to Lanzhou I realized that I did not make a mistake and that I was one the luckiest students: year 2009 was actually the 100th year anniversary celebration of Lanzhou University and also the 60th year celebration of the Public Popular Republic of China, and we enjoyed the enthusiasm and the warm happiness of people from China. In Gansu province, Lanzhou University is the place where I am accomplishing my Master of Science in Comparative Law, Economics and Finance. With its diverse schools, I have been given the possibility to attend classes in the school of Management and the school of Law so as to fulfill my MSc clef program, doing researches in the different libraries for my final thesis and especially learning the Chinese language for my personal fulfillment. My greatest impression comes from the people who are lovely, friendly, benign. I can just say that people love foreigners in Lanzhou. My favorite dishes are dumpling and beef noodle hmmm!!! Delicious!!! And I love using chopsticks. In fact Lanzhou is a pretty beautiful city, by day as by night, you lovely enjoy the city with different colors, the life, the people, the environment, the culture. I like going out at night along the yellow river’s side with its different parks where people gather together for sports, lovely meeting or just to enjoy. From the yellow river one can also have a beautiful sight of the city with its diverse colors and the iron bridge. Also going to night clubs, to karaoke, etc. was fun, but I just preferred badminton, swimming and gymnasium. From time to time, I climb the nice five spring mountain with the different Buddha temples, the spring fountains, the history of China: on top of the five spring mountain you feel as a king having a look at his kingdom. In Lanzhou I do not lose any chance to get close to the Chinese culture: classes, acquaintances, discussions, wedding ceremonies, sports, even the simple car traffic, there is China in every single gesture of people living in Lanzhou. The word cultural exchange is not sufficient to express Lanzhou University’s diversity. It gave me the opportunity to make friendship with students and professors from the five continents. Made me aware of the wealth of diversity itself. We come from different horizons, different cultures but we do things together, we love each other, we love Lanzhou and we enjoy our stay. Definitely the beauty of Lanzhou University is its diversity. Lanzhou University is for me a rainbow which owes its beauty to the diversity of its colors. I will encourage any persons wanting to make that kind of experience because Lanzhou University is where you come poor and go back rich. Xiéxiè
