Outstanding Students

 

The IUC is proud to introduce some outstanding candidates to the Master of Science program in Comparative Law Economics and Finance for the entering class of 2008: Mr. Shahboz Fattaev, Mr. Raul Donegá and Mr. Ma Siwen.
.

Shahboz Fattaev was born to a family of 10 and has had to overcome many obstacles along his way to achieving his goals. He has worked hard to achieve the highest standing throughout his academic life.

Born in one of the villages of Surkhandarya region of the republic of Uzbekistan, Shahboz Fattaevfrom the start Shahboz has had the drive to set the highest goals and make a difference in his academic environment and in his community. Although there were minimal opportunities for him to study in his village, his academic achievements allowed him to continue his high school in Shargun Lyceum far from his family. Throughout his academic career Shahboz participated in several competitions and achieved the highest ranking. Notably he was a winner of several regional Olympiads in physics in three consecutive years. He then continued to participate in International Olympiad in Physics where he was ranked among the best 10 students in Uzbekistan. He then participated in the nationwide Physics Olympiad where he took the 4th place in Uzbekistan.

With the goal of eventually becoming a professor, Shahboz graduated with honors with a B.S. degree in Banking from Tashkent Financial Institute. While an undergraduate, he published numerous articles in local journals.  After completing his degree he worked as a high school teacher for one year in Sariasiya Service College.

In 2007, in his quest to expand his qualifications and pursue advanced studies, he started his graduate studies in banking at the University of Utara Malaysia. During this year he also attended the International Conference on Banking and Finance and has been working or related papers to publish before the start of his program at the IUC.

Shahboz’s achievements exemplify his drive for success; his academic and professional profile fits squarely within the mission of the IUC.  Upon completion of his MSc, Shahboz hopes to pursue a professional career in international banking in a private bank or a regional financial institution and eventually proceed to study for his PhD.


Foto Raul DonegaRaul Donegá was only 15 years old when he decided to become a lawyer.  With the support and encouragement of his family, Raul studied English and was able to finish his high school in the state of Montana (USA), polishing his English and receiving an international diploma.  Raul’s experience in the USA gave him the chance to learn a new language and discover the diversity of cultures, something he brings to graduate studies.

Following his return to Brazil, Raul ranked amongst the top ten students on the entrance exam to law school and started his undergraduate studies at São Bernardo do Campo Law School in 2001.  Throughout his legal studies Raul worked as an intern concentrating on Banking Law, Financial Law, Commercial Law, Tax Law, Corporate Law, and International Law.   Raul has also prior professional knowledge on project finance structuring, private equity/venture capital operations, international carbon asset transactions, and international tax planning.

The IUC welcomes Raul Donegá to its student body to help this dedicated candidate in reaching his dream.

Siwen (IUC Student)Ma Siwen is a brilliant Chinese postgraduate student at the Lanzhou University Law School.
After his degree in Microelectronics and Semiconductor, he discovered his deep interest in law. He worked hard as an assistant for Lanzhou Xiongyi Law Firm, and then joined the Lanzhou Law School.
His goal is to become a lawyer and to contribute to the development of China's own perspective about Chinese future in the global capitalism. The IUC welcomes Ma Siwen and is proud to see him joining its student body.
