Rodrigo Míguez Núñez

Rodrigo Míguez Núñez is an IUC Faculty Member and Professor of Civil Law at the University Alberto Hurtado. 
 
He holds a Ph.D. in Private Law from the University of Turin and a Ph.D. in Law and Social Sciences from the EHESS of Paris. As Marie Curie EST Fellow (2006-2009), Professor Míguez studied common property in traditional legal systems at the Istituto di Scienze Umane (Florence), the Law Department of the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, CENJ of the EHESS (Paris), and more recently, as Lagrange Visiting Fellow, at the Law Department of the University of Turin. He has also been Research Fellow in Private Law at the Department of Economics “S. Cognetti de Martiis” at the University of Turin (2010-2012).
Dr. Míguez studied law at the Catholic University of Concepción (Chile) and was then appointed Assistant Professor of Private Law in 1998. In 2003 he was admitted to the Chilean Bar. He has been Junior Legal Advisor for the Chilean Ministry of Justice (Legal Aid Clinic, 2002-2003) and Consulting Attorney of the Chilean National Commission of the Environment on the Chilean-Argentinean agreement for the protection of biodiversity (2005). His specialist areas are property and the commons, indigenous land tenure rights, law and anthropology, and comparative private law. He has also published a number of articles on property, liability, anthropology of law, and legal history in Latin America and Europe.
