Jan Toporowski is an IUC Faculty Member and currently a professor of Economics and Finance and Head of Department at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London. He is also a Research Associate in the Research Centre for the History and Methodology of Economics at the University of Amsterdam.
Jan Toporowski is a graduate of Birkbeck College London (M.Sc.[Econ.]) and the University of Birmingham (B.Soc.Sc. and Ph.D.). He worked in fund management and international banking before becoming and academic at the end of the 1980s. In 2003-2004, he was an Official Visitor in the Faculty of Economics and Politics at Cambridge University. In 2005 he was a Visiting Research Fellow at the Bank of Finland. He has published widely on financial and monetary economics and is currently engaged on a study of the economist Michal Kalecki.
