Gunther Teubner is an IUC Faculty Member, a member of the Accademia dei Lincei in Rome, Former Otto Kahn Freund Professor of Comparative Law and Legal Theory at the London School of Economics, and Professor of Private Law and Legal Sociology at the University of Frankfurt.
Gunther Teubner teaches private law and legal sociology. At present he is Principal Investigator at the Excellence Cluster "Normative Orders" at the Goethe-University Frankfurt. He taught at the European University Institute Florence, Italy, and at the universities of Bremen and Frankfurt. He was Visiting Professor in Berkeley, Ann Arbor, Stanford, Toronto, Berlin, and Den Haag and Maastricht.
He received honorary doctorates from the universities Lucerne, Napoli, Tiflis, Macerata, Lund. His research areas are social theory of law, private law theory, contract law, and comparative Law.
