LLM Program
All admitted students participate in a one-year LLM program. To receive the LLM degree in Comparative Law, Economics and Finance (CLEF) students must successfully complete all Foundational courses (26 credits) and Specialized courses (10 credits) and obtain a total of 36 credits in one academic year.
MSc Program
Some successful LLM students will be upgraded to a second year MSc. To receive the MSc degree in Comparative Law, Economics and Finance (CLEF), students must obtain 48 credits total (36 in the first year), engage in a research year, and complete a Masters Thesis of at least 15,000 words or an equivalent piece of work, like a documentary film with script (worth the remaining 16 credits.)
The 2nd-year program is intended as a continuation of the process of bringing together theory and practice/empirical observation, which began during the 1st year LLM curriculum. Students selected for upgrade to the Masters will receive a Student Research Fellowship to perform their research. Research may be completed in the student's home country, a developing country, at one of our approximately 20 global partner institutions, at a non partner institution, or an internship with a governmental, non governmental or private sector organization.
